Diffusion bonding is a solid-state technique to connect metal or ceramic parts with each other, that can be done with similar and dissimilar material.

It is based on the principle of solid-state diffusion, wherein the atoms of two solid, metallic or ceramic surfaces intersperse themselves over time. The temperature and atmosphere depend on the materials that are supposed to be connected with each other.

Diffusion bonding is widely used in the joining of high-strength and refractory metals within the aerospace, medical and nuclear industries.

Our high vacuum furnaces are suitable for diffusion bonding of Titanium and other reactive metals and ceramics.
